Workout Water |

Being outside in the Nashville heat doesn't just deplete you of water, it depletes you of electrolytes such as potassium, sodium and chloride. This can mean headaches, fatigue, nausea and a whole host of BLAH feelings. I created a all-natural sports drink that I am thrilled to share with y'all today. Unfortunately, most store-bought sports drinks contain refined or artificial sweeteners, vegetable oils and preservatives, which seems to negate the concept of a nourishing beverage all together.
My mixture, on the other hand, is completely full of real-food goodness. It is so refreshing, delicious and simple to whip up, and I've received rave reviews from everyone who has tried it. It makes a great base of a morning smoothie for an extra boost of energy.
The base of this beverage is coconut water, which has been used as a sports drink due to its potassium content. Fresh orange juice adds Vitamin C and natural sweetness, and I include 1 whole orange for fiber to help regulate blood sugar. Hibiscus tea has a floral flavor that works perfectly with the other ingredients, but it is also a source of antioxidants and has been shown to lower blood pressure. However, you can absolutely substitute with another tea of your choosing!
Enjoy and stay hydrated this summer!
