|Green not Orange Julius Immunity Smoothie|
This smoothie came together one morning after minimal sleep and the tell-tale symptoms of an oncoming cold—minor muscle aches, congestion, throat tickle. Blurry-eyed and determined to keep illness at bay, I threw together everything I could think of that might help bolster my immune system.
I had enough wherewithal to think about how my ingredients might actually taste together, and I wound up with something wonderfully reminiscent of an Orange Julius. Remember those?! In popsicle form, they're fondly known as Creamsicles and they are deeeelicious.
Every single ingredient in this smoothie is working to benefit your immune system. Oranges and yellow bell peppers are packed with Vitamins C and A, as well as gorgeous carotenoids for battling oxidative stress. Raw honey and coconut milk are packed with antimicrobial components for battling pathogens. And then, the mac daddy ingredient of this recipe...broccoli!

You're probably tempted to run for the hills, especially since I threw bell pepper at you already without a care BUT, you don't taste them in the recipe! I actually ended up sharing this recipe for a news segment, and the lovely reporter was astounded that she didn't notice any broccoli flavor. Instead, you'll taste creamy, luscious, soothing goodness. Broccoli offers a remarkable range of nutrients and is a superstar for anti-inflammatory healing and repair. Bonus--basically all grocery stores sell frozen broccoli, making this a breeze to throw together.
